Dentist

Today both kids had dentist appointments. We go to a pediatric dentist and we have really liked it so far. Sam has to go back by himself since I need to stay with Claire for her cleaning but he always does great. He even had x-rays today and got through with no problems. Claire, on the other hand, is a bit more difficult. She hates having her teeth brushed to begin with and always insists on doing it herself. This has resulted in yellow teeth so Bill and I have been more forceful lately about brushing her teeth first and then letting her have the toothbrush. This always results in tears but at least her teeth aren't as yellow. At the dentist I warned them that their job would not be easy. The hygentist used all of her tricks but in the end, when it was clear that Claire was not going to cooperate, she had to go get the dentist and together, with me leaning over Claire to reassure her that she was okay, they quickly brushed and examined her teeth as she cried. Poor kid! They were able to remove all the yellowy build up though, she had no cavities and all of her teeth are now in. After Claire was done with her cleaning we went back to see Sam. He was happily laying on a table watching Cars. The dentist came in a did a quick check of his teeth and found that his teeth were great too. They both picked out a toy and now we don't have to do it again for another 6 months. Yay!
