Neighborhood Happy Hour

For a couple of years now Bill has been mentioning that we need to do a neighborhood happy hour on Fridays where neighbors can gather in front of each other's houses and enjoy a drink while the kids all play. We finally took the initiative and planned one for tonight. I sent out an email to several neighbors telling them to stop by around 6, bring lawn chairs and kids toys if they like, and their favorite beverage. We had a great turnout for the 1st one especially considering that it's a holiday weekend. Some neighbors brought dinner, some brought dessert to share, but everyone had a great time. The kids all went home tired and the parents all went home happy after a drink or two and some much needed adult socialization. There have already been a couple of volunteers to host the next one. Hopefully we started a new trend and will get to do this often.
