Frisco Grooves

Every Friday night in June the city of Frisco has a free concert from 7:30-9 at a sports complex. Bill and I went with a group from church a couple of weeks ago and left the kids with Bill's parents but we decided that it would be fun to take them one week. There are so many families there that it seemed like Sam and Claire would enjoy it. We got that shortly after the music started and immediately the kids loved the music. We set up our blanket and chairs and the kids had some drinks and snacks before starting to dance. Eventually Sam wanted to move up to the stage so we moved all of our stuff closer so that we could be near him. He loved standing right in front of the band. He also really liked the portapotty! I took him the first time and we went in the orange one. Then he said he wanted to go in the green one (there were 2 orange ones and one green one) so Bill had to take him back. At least they were clean!

Claire liked the music but was much more excited about a couple of labs that were sitting behind us. She kept saying "Jo, Jo!" and wandering over to them. We tried to tell her that they weren't Jo but that didn't seem to matter to her. She would get very upset when we took her away from the dogs and it became clear that it was time for her to go to bed. We got her changed into pajamas and were ready to leave when the band, who played all country music btw, played a song about a train. This caught Sam's attention immediately and he had to go up to the stage and dance. After that we left. The whole way home he talked about how dark it was in the car. I guess he's not used to driving anywhere in the dark right now. It was a fun experience and we'll have to try to go more often next year.
