Dallas Aquarium

Saturday June 14th we went to the Dallas Aquarium. Bill decided that this is what he wanted to do for Father's Day. His parents went with us and we got there around 10:30. It was already pretty crowded. Claire didn't want to be in the stroller so I tried to find places where she could walk. Sam seemed to really enjoy all of the animals but his favorite were the otters. I didn't see it but they apparently came right up to him at the glass. Claire's favorite animal were the flamingos. She was so enthralled with them that she actually threw a temper tantrum when we had to go to the next exhibit. Both kids seemed to like the penguins although Claire was mostly interested in trying to climb over the fence to join them.

The most memorable event of the day was when Claire was sitting in her stroller having a snack of crackers and raisins when a toucan-like bird flew down and sat right on the tray of the stroller! We didn't know that there were birds flying around freely so this was a bit of a shock especially to Sam who was trying to eat this snack too and was very upset that the bird was stealing it from him! He cried and cried so Bill was trying to calm him down. Meanwhile, Claire just sat in her stroller as calm as can be while mommy laughed so hard that she could hardly focus. Grandma and Grandpa were busy taking pictures and all of the onlookers just laughed. Eventually I had to push the bird away b/c it was clear that he wasn't going to leave on his own. I guess next time we will pay attention to the signs that say "no food!"
