Soccer Tots
We always try to have Sam signed up for some kind of activity to keep him busy and to get some much needed energy out. Over the summer we did swim lessons but now that those were over we needed a new activity. He is too young for organized sports but I had heard about an organization called Soccer Tots that teaches kids soccer skills in a fun way. We did a trial class and Sam was shy and stayed next to me for about 5 minutes but quickly saw how much fun the other kids were having and decided to join them. We signed him up for the fall session and so far he loves it. It does teach soccer skills but more importantly it teaches him to follow directions and to listen to his coach, Coach Megan. The activities that they do really help with coordination too. Some of the things they do include chasing hola hoops to help them look forward while they run, kicking over small cones and then picking them back up only using their feet, playing red light/green light, throwing a ball over their heads, hitting balloons with their heads and knees and of course they also kick soccer balls and score goals. But most of the class is focused on the other activities, not just kicking a soccer ball into a goal. There are about 5 kids in the class, all boys except for the coaches daughter. They are all around 3 or 3 1/2 years old so they are all about at the same level. I think Sam is the best cheerleader of the group and he always yells for his teammates loudly when it their turn to score a goal. Sam seems to be having so much fun that we may have to sign him up again after this session is over.
